Budget Direct is at least one insurance provider who cannot be accused of gouging its new customers when it comes to the price they pay for protecting their home’s contents.
The headlines today paint a worrying picture, insurers accused of ‘ripping off’ customers, being ‘greedy’ and ‘lying’ when it comes to increases in premiums, despite a reduction in the cost of some household goods.
Budget Direct wants Australia to know exactly how much or rather how little their premiums on new policies have increased over the years. Once adjusted for inflation, Budget Direct’s contents average base premium rates has increased by 2.1% annually.
Budget Direct launched its home and contents insurance in June 2006, and it continues to be one of the strongest areas of our business with growth of 42% this year according to Ram Kangatharan CEO Budget Direct.
“We firmly believe those customers who have already switched to Budget Direct Contents Insurance are simply smarter, they have shopped around and found that our rates are some of the most competitive in the market,” says Mr Kangatharan.
In fact, for the first six months of 2013, Budget Direct’s Home & Contents new online customers revealed on average they saved $319.
“At Budget Direct we can see no reason why premiums for Home & Contents should be going through the roof. We offer first rate customer service, with local contact centres, and are still able to offer affordable rates,” says Mr Kangatharan.
