Insurance provider and challenger brand Budget Direct sent its one millionth Hail Hero alert ahead of the short and sharp storm which hit Sydney on October 13.
In one day alone Budget Direct sent 63,190 Hail Hero SMS alerts to its motor, home and contents customers about impending damaging hail at their home address, giving them valuable time to protect their property.
The free service is part of Budget Direct’s commitment to keep customers well informed on how to protect their property, save money and get the cover they need, says David Atchison, Director Claims & Assessing, Budget Direct.
“Budget Direct is constantly looking at ways to provide simply smarter insurance options for our customers,” says Mr Atchison.
“Since launching Hail Hero late 2011, we have sent one million alerts and feedback has been extremely positive. Many customers respond thanking us for the chance to move their vehicle under cover or take other measures to protect their property.”
Hail Hero took two years of research and development to create. The technology was named in 2013 by Canstar as one of the 8 top products showing innovation in Australia. It took out the Australian Business Awards Product Innovation category in 2012, as well as a gong at the 2012 Australian Insurance Industry Awards.
