Queenslanders Champion Contact Centre Awards

  • Budget Direct staff named Professional of the Year and People Champion of the Year at the ATA National awards.

A commitment to service and people development has seen two Budget Direct staff recognised as the best in Australia at the ATA Contact Centre awards held in Melbourne on Friday night.

Tracey Brown from Budget Direct’s North Lakes centre won the ATA Contact Centre Professional of the Year award, while Leah McGinlay from Kawana won the People Champion of the Year award.

Client Services Department Team Leader Tracey Brown joined the low cost insurance provider three years ago as a sales consultant after moving to Brisbane from New Zealand.

“I needed a job and Budget Direct was advertising for consultants,” said Ms Brown. “I had no idea the role would develop into such a rewarding career.”

Ms Brown set herself daily self-improvement goals and, as a result, quickly progressed to a senior consultant position. In April this year, after completing the company’s training programs in coaching and development, she was promoted to the role of Team Leader managing the Academy program for new recruits – a role she has found very satisfying.

“I strive to be the best I can be every day,” said Ms Brown. “I have enjoyed continued success and positive feedback thanks to a genuine focus on customer service.”

Senior Learning and Development Consultant Leah McGinlay won the Contact Centre People Champion of the Year award for the development of staff. Ms McGinlay said she was “thrilled and grateful” to be recognised, and felt humbled by the support and guidance given by others within the organisation.

“Winning this award supports my belief in people; I’m passionate about their growth and development and am dedicated to their service,” said Ms McGinlay. “I’m motivated by the happiness that comes to a person’s whole life when they find meaning and a sense of personal contribution and achievement at work.”

The ATA (formerly the Australian Teleservices Association) represents more than 75% of contact and call centre organisations across Australia.  The ATA Awards Program is the highest honour for centres and professionals. Last year Budget Direct’s Damian Jeffrey from North Lakes won the ATA Tele-professional of the Year award.
