Weekend hail and flooding caused havoc across Victoria and while insurance claims are pouring in, not all insurers are sinking under the pressure.
Low cost car insurance provider Budget Direct has received more than 1500 claims to date, all of which have completed lodgement, and repair processing has commenced.
Budget Direct’s Director of Operations James Lilley said being nimble has meant the insurer could handle such a disaster efficiently and effectively by having claims lodged much faster than many of their competitors.
“It's times like these our company really shines. We have a very experienced and dedicated team who efficiently manage large volumes of claims,” Mr Lilley said.
The insurer immediately opened its Insurance Assessing Centre in Melbourne on the public holiday, with additional staff redirected to manage customers’ claims.
“We have specialist teams that fix hail-damaged vehicles promptly, so we expect our customers to be back on the road as soon as possible. We also have experts who are attending to assessing and repairing damaged homes, right now.
Furthermore, we have received feedback from some customers concerned that their No Claims Discount rating will be affected. We have decided to waive that policy for this event,” he said.
Budget Direct policyholders returning from a long weekend to discover their home or car damaged should contact the Budget Direct claims centre on 1300 139 591 for Motor claims and 1800 069 336 for Home claims.
