What happens if I have a medical emergency overseas?

Budget Direct Travel Insurance entitles you to medical assistance and cover for the costs of medical treatment. You are free to choose your own medical advisor or Mondial Assistance can appoint an approved medical advisor to see you, unless you are treated under a Reciprocal HealthCare Agreement (refer to your policy for details). When you buy a policy, you will be provided with a policy number and an emergency assistance number that you can phone free of charge from anywhere around the world, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Contact Mondial Assistance immediately if you have a medical problem whilst overseas.

Who are Mondial Assistance?

Mondial Assistance is an internationally recognised emergency assistance centre. Mondial is based at Toowong in Brisbane, Australia, with over 220 local staff including: doctors, registered nurses, social workers, mechanics, logistical experts, communication specialists and support personnel. Many of Mondial’s staff are multi-lingual so they can speak the local language for you in many destinations. In addition to staff in Australia, Mondial has access to as many as 400,000 service providers, 240 correspondents and 37 operation centres worldwide.

What happens if my luggage is damaged or stolen?

The Budget Direct Platinum, Budget Direct Silver, Budget Direct Bronze and Budget Direct Annual/Frequent Traveller Travel Insurance policies provide cover should your luggage be lost or damaged. Remember that you must take all reasonable precautions to safeguard your luggage.

Is cover provided for high value items such as personal computers, video recorders and cameras?

Personal computers, video recorders and cameras are covered however limits vary between the different Travel Insurance plans. Single item limits also apply to luggage and personal effects as detailed in the table of benefits.

When can I claim a travel delay allowance?

You will be reimbursed for additional meals and accommodation expenses if your journey is disrupted due to circumstances beyond your control. You need to be delayed for at least 6 hours in order to claim this benefit. Please refer to the table of benefits and Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) for more information.

What is rental vehicle excess cover?

Rental vehicle excess cover provides cover in the event that you need to pay a rental vehicle excess following damage or the theft of a rental vehicle. This benefit can save you the cost of purchasing excess waiver cover from your rental vehicle company.
