Team of 300 Working Overtime as Santa's Little Helpers
Helping those less fortunate than yourself during the festive season is the perfect remedy for the tough year that’s been and the staff at the Budget Direct Contact Centre at Kawana are living proof.
Nearly 300 staff members at cheap car insurance provider Budget Direct are getting into the ‘act of giving’, with excitement building as the big day gets closer.
This is the fourth year that team members have come together to take part in the adopt-a-family campaign and this year is gearing up to be the most prosperous yet. Some departments adopt an individual family and others have combined to make one extremely large donation of gifts, food and other essentials.
Director of Contact Centre Operations Gerry O’Shaughnessy is not surprised by the generosity of the Contact Centre staff and believes a strong sense of community spirit has been the foundation of the culture for many years.
“Our staff members are so charitable and to be able to give this time of year is truly a reflection on them. To be part of the Salvation Army’s adopt-a-family campaign is a real pleasure and I think the staff really get a lot out of it,” Mr O’Shaughnessy said.
“One of our receptionists read an article about those in need at Christmas time and came up with the idea of opening it up to all staff. While some departments had already been doing this for years, we decided to put the word out there and the response has been overwhelming,” he said.
Proudly displayed in a central position of the Contact Centre, the growing pile of generosity is a friendly reminder to all staff that they can make a difference this Christmas. The gifts will be handed over to the Salvation Army on Friday in time for distribution across the Sunshine Coast.
Corporate receptionist Sarah Sheehy said the overflowing pile of goods is such a pleasure to look at every day and it really brings a smile to everyone’s face. The thought of helping so many is just lovely.”
